Tunnel under Nørrebrogade

In connection with the realization of the first stage of the Aarhus Light Rail, a concrete tunnel tube was laid under Nørrebrogade in preparation for the establishment of a connection between the former Municipal Hospital on one side of Nørrebrogade and Universitetsparken on the other side of the road.

This contract included the execution of earthworks, sewage and concrete works in connection with the establishment of surfaces including structures in the concrete tunnel pipe and the establishment of a new tunnel on the side where the University Park is located. Furthermore, coordination with the contractor who was responsible for connecting the tunnel at the former Municipal Hospital.

The contract included the following main works:

• Establishment of traffic control measures

• Test excavations for determining existing tunnel pipes

• Clearing and dismantling of existing pavements, etc.

• Soil, subgrade and stabilization gravel works

• Terrain regulation

• Establishment of a new rainwater system including connection of existing drains

• Design and construction of secant pile walls

• Establishment of retaining walls including foundations

• Establishment of steel columns in protection

• Establishment of concrete stairs, concrete beams and concrete decks over tunnels

• Installation of heating hoses in terrain and in stairs.
